Angola and El Salvador Sign Joint Agreement to Establish Relations

This is the first legal instrument to promote mutual understanding and strengthening ties of friendship and cooperation in areas of common interest between their two countries and peoples, signed in New York on Monday.

The document reaffirms the commitment to the principles and purposes enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations and in international laws, which include respect for the promotion of international peace and security, equality among States, respect for national sovereignty, territorial integrity and non-interference.

According to the statement from the Angolan Foreign Ministry, the parties decided to establish diplomatic relations under the terms of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations of April 18th, 1961 and the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations of April 24th, 1963.
