Among 100 countries, Greece ranked first as the most affordable destination for those who want to settle in another country when they retire, according to a survey by the British insurance company REASSURED.

Many Britons, due to the high cost of living in the country, intend to move to a foreign country when they retire, with this survey trying to identify destinations for retirees to save some of their income.

The Office of Economic and Commercial Affairs of the Embassy of Greece in Cyprus provides a relevant analysis on the matter in its document, which mentions these two countries as well as others that are accessible to pensioners. The company took into account 6 parameters, which retirees think about before moving to another country. These are sunshine, cost of living, cost of accommodation, cost of transport, life expectancy and the country’s overall percentage of population over 65.

Greece was therefore in first place, with Portugal coming 2nd, Malta 3rd, Italy 4th, Spain 5th, Cuba 6th, Cyprus 7th, Japan 8th, Albania 9th, with the top ten completed by Puerto Rico.

Greece ranked first, with life expectancy at 81 years, with a population over 65 at 23%. 2,773 hours of sunshine per year, while the average cost of accommodation reaches 347 euros.

The lowest life expectancy was recorded in Bulgaria, Morocco, Algeria and Romania, with Algeria having a 6% population over 65. Algeria also recorded the lowest average cost of living at around 98.5 Euros.
