The KCB-sponsored Kenya National Rally champion Karan Patel is gearing up for the upcoming Rwanda Mountain Gorilla Rally that marks the fifth edition of the 2023 African Rally Championship (ARC).

Fresh off his triumph at the Rallye International du Burundi, where he clinched the fourth edition of the championship, Patel (pictured) currently holds the third position on the ARC leader board with 60 points.

Leading the pack is Yasin Nasser from Uganda with 78 points, closely followed by fellow Ugandan Jas Mangat in second place with 63 points.

Looking ahead to the forthcoming rally, Patel exudes confidence and determination. He recognizes the fierce competition from top drivers across Africa and sets his sights on securing top finishes in the remaining legs of the championship.

His ultimate goal is to narrow the gap with the current leader and bring the ARC title to Kenya.

Patel’s navigator, Tauseef Khan, is equally committed to their mission and emphasizes the importance of a well-prepared car for a podium-worthy performance. They aim not just to complete the rally but to secure a top finish with valuable points.

Hosted by the Rwanda Automobile Club, the Rwanda Mountain Gorilla rally spans a challenging 348.18km distance with six stages.

The ARC will continue with its sixth leg, the Zambia International Rally, scheduled for October 20 to 22, before culminating in the Rally of Tanzania in November.
